Summer Volunteer Programs For College Students
Our Service Learning Trips are the perfect opportunity for college students and young adults searching for non-religious mission trips that focus on long-term solutions rather than photo-ops and performative activism.
MEDLIFE’s Approach: Our projects aim to leave a lasting impact once our volunteers have left. Many volunteer programs can fall short when it comes to follow-up care and fulfilling promises. We work to prioritize initiatives that unlock greater resources within communities, creating a ripple effect. For instance, constructing a staircase in a community can lead to providing access to land titles, water, or sewage services. We also employ a comprehensive patient follow-up program, that ensures every patient receives the full amount of care they need, rather than just a quick check up and short-term solutions.

It’s such an amazing experience. You really get hands-on experience working with doctors, and you get to just meet a ton of cool people, I definitely recommend it.

Here, we've learned a lot about the different medical systems in Peru and how patients' needs differ from those we're used to. I think gaining some more cultural competency is huge for our future careers in medicine.

I found it really incredible attending this Service Learning Trip. I really recommend it because it is a very eye-opening experience. If you're thinking of joining MEDLIFE and you're afraid of coming here alone, don't worry, I made new friends, and I'm sure we'll stay great friends after the program.

You don’t have to be in Pre Med, Physical Therapy or any health care field. We have business majors, people who just want to make an impact, people who like to travel, who want to see their impact in the communities and they love it.

FAQs: Volunteer Abroad Programs For College Students
Is this program safe for college students?
Yes, our college volunteer programs are designed with volunteer safety as our #1 priority. Every Service Learning Trip is accompanied by our dedicated staff who facilitate all on the ground transportation and activities outside of the communities. On top of that, all volunteers are required to attend an extensive safety briefing before going into the field. Masks are also compulsory during Mobile Clinics and will be provided by MEDLIFE.
Do I need experience to volunteer abroad?
No experience is required to attend a MEDLIFE Service Learning Trip. Volunteers from all backgrounds and experience levels are welcome. Trained professionals will be facilitating all medical procedures, infrastructure projects, and educational seminars. The volunteer’s job is to assist them and learn through working alongside them.
Can volunteering count as community service hours?
Yes, many of our volunteers list their MEDLIFE volunteer experience on their resumes and college applications as community service hours. Participating in a Service Learning Trip is an excellent way to give back to the community and gain volunteer hours.
